I recently just finished binge-watching that amazing Netflix original Nailed It. It is based on the trend of ordinary people trying to create the masterpieces that they see on social media platforms such as Pinterest. It is three hours of your time, but what an amazing time you will have. The host is hilarious, and the main judge is adorable. What I love about this show is that no one truly believes that they are better than everyone else. Everyone is in the same place and are just having fun with it. It’s a fun little competition between beginner bakers. What I also loved, is that if the judges saw something go wrong in the process, they would inform the participants what they did wrong and how to fix it in the future, so it is fun and a learning experience all in one. I would definitely recommend watching this short little binge.

Not So Political Comedy
A show that I recently caught up on and finished, unexpectedly, was The Mayor. It was a short little show got canceled after 13 episodes. It had highlights here and there, but it was … cringy. There were many times that I paused the show, and walked away. For a while actually. If you are looking for a political commentary with some comedy highlights, this is probably not for you. Earlier on there were plenty of bazingas concerning current events, but they fall flat after that. All of the characters, in my opinion, were good but weren’t used to their potential. Also, when a protagonist makes the same, exact mistake over and over again, the conflicts become boring really fast. If the protagonist made new mistakes, I would probably understand the show not being canceled. To me, there was no growth of characters to make them rememberable. Any lessons to be learned were immediately lost, which was especially noticed by someone who binge-watches shows often instead of keeping up to date. It was just too much of a drag to even try to keep up to date. I honestly can’t say that I was surprised by the canceling of this show. I would say give this show a change, but I would not be surprised if you stop somewhere in the middle.
Best at Breaking Out
In typical Netflix rabbit hole fashion, I found a show and finished watching it in a matter of days. This particular show was Breakout Kings. It was recommended to be for a while, and since it was going to be taken off soon, I figure it would be a good thing to watch. In reality, I loved it. At first, I thought that the characters were going to be written very weakly and rely way too much on stereotypes. It did for a little bit, but I enjoyed the “villains.” They were my absolute favorite parts of the show. I love figuring out why these people escaped from prison. Since you see them for a lot of their journey getting out, I love to figure out the why. This show is a combination of your typical bounty hunter show and Criminal Minds. You have everyone necessary for the team and work together almost seamlessly. I just hate that it was canceled. The series finale was intense, and there was no reason for it to end right there. I want more or at least a conclusion to the final cliffhanger.
Long Live the King
Recently, I watch the amazing movie that was Black Panther. It took me a while to actually write this because that movie is so much to unpack. I even went to a discussion about the movie this past Tuesday, and it just opened new cans of worms. There is just so much to unpack. I feel like I might accidentally spoil something, so if you haven’t seen the movie yet… First of all, what have you guys been doing with your time? Second, this is the only warning you are going to get.
First off, once again, this movie was amazing. It is officially one of my favorite Marvel movies. (I have to make a distinction because my favorite movie of all time is Silence of the Lambs). The visuals were bold, vibrant and beautifully done. All of the main characters stood out on there own and all the background characters were visually associated with their tribes. There was no mistake as who was with who, yet at the same time, I could feel that everyone was their own individual person. And there was not one single wasted scene. In the beginning, I was a bit iffy of the beginning with the scene of kids playing basketball. I was wondering what was going on and if it was going to be a scene that is typically in a “black movie.” I was completely blown away when that scene turned out to be completely relevant. Other times, it goes absolutely nowhere, but this time it did. Yet, this was only two hours of a four-hour film. I honestly want to see everything. When it comes out, I want to see the extended cut. According to some of my sources, A.K.A. my friend who is obsessed with the entire Black Panther story, told me that everything was scored. I want to see the entire story. I’m hoping that those extra two-hours add on to the experience instead of taking it away.
Another thing that I loved were the outfits. I know that sounds a bit skin-deep, but let me explain for those who are not in the know. The majority of the outfits worn by characters in the movie worn clothing and jewelry that is representative of different cultures within Africa. After the first trailer was released, people were all over that. I also enjoyed the fact that when numerous characters were on screen together, they were wearing the colors of the Pan-African flag. This flag represents uniting everyone that is of African heritage. It was amazing to see.
I would also be very remised if I didn’t mention to women. The women were written so well. They were strong characters with their own wills. They were not defined by their relationships with their love interests. They had their own ideas of what should happen and where not afraid to have a debate about it. I was also just ecstatic, as a scientist, I was excited for Shuri. She showed the world what a scientist and inventor could be. Yes, we love our work, but we are also goofy and have inside jokes a well. We are everyday people, and it was awesome to see what I saw as me on the screen. As a female, I was happy to see many of the women on screen. They were everything I could have wished. I just hope Marvel knows that my expectation for their female characters has risen exponentially. I will be disappointed if I see another weak character. I might cry.
I feel like I have talked (written?) your ears off. There’s a lot I could say, but I just didn’t want to talk too much about it. There is just so much to unravel. My favorite scenes it the entire movie had to be where the T’Challa and Killmonger go to the ancestral plane. There is just so much juxtaposition the between the two guys, and then a just loved the juxtaposition between T’Challa’s two scenes in the plane. There is just so much there, or at the very least, what I interpreted as being there.
I just cannot say it enough. The movie is amazing. If anyone would like to talk about it in the comments with me, I would be happy to talk some more. I just kinda feel like I’m going on a rant at this point. So, that’s all for now. Hopefully, Marvel has some more greatness in store for us.
Dean of the Hospital
Because I’ve been kinda stressed, I have discovered a new game to play. (I’m not obsessed, guys. I promise) It is called Hey Hospital. It is kind-of your basic resource management that takes place in a hospital. You have to build examination and treatment rooms for all of your patients, create a relaxing environment with decor and seating, and make sure that your doctors are leveling up as well. The game also does a really good job of making game progress when you are offline. Your doctor’s and patients are pretty independent and can direct themselves to where needed. Honestly, you spend the majority of the time watching everyone walk around. It’s kinda relaxing. At higher levels, the game becomes slightly more involved. At this point, I have gotten to a point where I felt forced to purchase anything. The pacing so far has been fairly balanced it far. It is a great little game to play when you want to wast a little (okay, a lot) of time. You can get this game for Andriod. As of writing this, the game is not completely released yet, but I’m sure that it will come out to other platforms once the game is complete.
How Does It Hold Up: Bones Pt. 1
Most recently, I have been rewatching Bones. It is one of my favorite procedural shows because of its application of forensic science. I absolutely loved it because it showed science and a real-world application for it. Not only that, but I scientist all had different personalities. I have seen other shows were characters that fall into a certain type all have the same personality. I decided to rewatch this show because I stopped watching the shows a few years before it went off the air. If I am remembering correctly, I stopped watching because I hated a plot line to the story was going down. I’ve seen some promos from after that point where it seemed like to show was getting on a better track before the show ended. The review for right now is on the first half of the show or pre-pregnancy as I like to call it. The first six seasons held some of my favorite episodes. There were some cringe-worthy moments, but I embraced every single one of them. It felt really good to be a part of the squint squad again. I felt every heartbreak and every cry of rejoicing as if I had watched it for the first time. I can definitely see myself watching these six seasons over and over again.
Update: Animal Crossing Pocket Camp
With all of the recent updates that I been released for Animal Crossing, I’ve decided to review the new updates. If you would like to read my previous statements, click here.
Some of the most recent updates included a lot of fun events center around the season. They are really fun to participate in and don’t require too much extra effort. You just have to remember that the event is occurring and to purchase the special items. Another event was a butterfly event that was fun to take place in. Once again, the game practically holds your hand along the way to the event. For this event, you just had to plant seeds that the different animals gave you and catch butterflies that came to feed. The only thing I wished happened was that the catch rate was slightly higher. It felt that the catch rate was way too low at the level of catching I was at.
An overall new update is the crafting of clothing. It’s a nice update considering the fact that there is only a small chance of clothes you may want showing up. One thing I wish was available was that you can choose color options that you want and patterns. I understand in this phase of the development of the app that they may not be able to do that, but I would like that. There is some clothing that is not to my tastes, but I can definitely see them being someone else’s.
Reactions to RWBY Volume 5
Two weeks ago was the Volume 5 finale to RWBY. I am uploading this now to give people who do not have access to Rooster Teeth have an opportunity to watch on YouTube before having the possibility of spoilers. Thus, do not continue reading unless you are will to have something spoiled.
Puzzles for Furniture
Another game that has been holding my attention lately has been Matchington Mansion. The basic premise is that an author leaves you her house after dying of old age, and you and your friend are fixing the house up. In other words, it is a Match-3 game. It is a concept that has been done a couple of times in different settings but for some reason, I love this one. It might have to do with the fact that the best friend has a likable personality or the fact that I don’t have to wait hours on end in order to play again. The levels also fluctuate in difficulty. After an especially difficult level, the difficulty slightly ramps down a little bit. Also, after introducing a new gameplay dynamic, the difficulty becomes easier before slowly ramping up again. I like the art style and story. Other games that I play with this style don’t have this story component, which means that I don’t have a need to go back. I have played a couple of these types of games, I usually become bored after a couple of days of play. This one, I have been playing for the last couple of weeks. I think the short refresh time helps keep my interest. I would definitely suggest this game. You can get it on Andriod, iOS, and different online platforms.
Bringing Sugar Back to the Land
A mobile game that I come back to time and time again is Bakery Blitz. It is a game where you create different sweets for the impatient customers that come to your counter. The art style is cute and bubbly. The story that goes on in the background is also interesting, and from the updates that I’m seeing, the story is going to get juicier. So far, the people have forgotten what sugar is, and you have to remind the people of it. I also enjoy the different worlds you explore. Each one is based different sweets. Every character also has a different personality and a different design. I absolutely love it. From the worlds I have yet to explore, there are a ton of new characters to be introduced to and fall in love with. This is a game that even when I rage quit, I keep coming back to test my skills.
You can get this game from Andriod and on different online platforms.
