What a Bizarre Adventure Pt 2

I have recently finished the second part of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure known as Sentou Chuuryuu or Battle Tendency. I feel that it was just as good as the first part. This adventure stars the grandson of the original JoJo has he needs to go out and face more vampires. The one thing that was really iffy about this part was that one of the heroes is a Nazi. Yes, a Nazi. The JoJo of this part is an American, and the story takes place just before the start of WWII and America’s entry into the war. It’s a very small part, but you also have to remember that this is a Japanese story. The Japanese were allied with Germany. I’ve seen this a couple of times in anime, but it is still such a culture shock whenever I see this thing. Once you get over this fact, it’s an enjoyable part. They aren’t a focal point, and only one has a name. The villains are so enjoyable to see, and our hero is not the gentleman that his grandfather.

At this point, my ratings are:

What a Bizarre Adventure Pt. 1

As I am writing this, I have literally just finished reading the first part of JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken or JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. If you haven’t heard of the is story, it follows different generations of this family known as the Joestars, and everyone’s name begins with Jo. This first part is known as Phantom Blood, and it starts all of the craziness that this family must undergo. It has a maniacal villain with obviously flawed plans, but you continue your love-hate relationship with him anyways. This part and short and sweet with only five volumes. It’s a quick read, but enjoyable the entire way through. I think you will love it too.

I’ll be reviewing every part of this series, so still around to see how I feel about every generation that we follow.

The Law of Equivaleinet Exchange

I feel like this is an amazing-ish title to go along with such an outstanding manga. I recently finished the manga Fullmetal Alchemist. If you want to read my review of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, click here. The manga, let me tell you, was so much better. I pushed through until the very end. I even neglected doing homework so that I could finish reading it. I felt the intensity of the last arc, same as I did when watching the anime. This manga also makes me even more scared of watching the original FMA anime. I’ve been told by some people that the changes don’t make any sense and that overall it is bad, but I was also told that the feelings are more intense. I’m going to wait a bit longer before watching that one, so that I forget some of what happened so that I can judge it as its own thing.

Heart of Metal

I’ve finally finished it. If anyone has been keeping up with my MAL account, you would have noticed that it took me forever to finish Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. I’ve been watching it with one of my friends, and I was not allowed to watch any of it without her. For my birthday, I binged through the last 16 episodes of it. All of it was amazing. I was not expecting it because I lead towards shoujos and my friends who practically hate shoujos love it. All I can say is that I might start trusting them with anime suggestions. It is now another anime on the short list of animes that I suggest watching dubbed. I know that at this point, everyone and their mother has seen this anime, but I feel like I should emphasize how good it is from someone like me. IT WAS AMAZING. Now the question is should I watch the original. I’ve been told that towards the end it is disappointing, but the emotions going into it are a lot more present. Should I? I need to know. Please tell me.

Not at All What I Was Expecting

Recently, I watched the Netflix original movie Death Note, and it was not at all what I was expecting. It was a good movie. I won’t say that it is the best movie I have ever seen but I had some really good elements. I loved the cinematography and there wasn’t a lot of spoken exposition like I was expecting. I know that a lot of people hated it. I read the reviews myself. They were full of hate but had no real reasoning for it. The people who actually had reasons for disliking it, other than the fact that it wasn’t word for word out of the manga or anime, had reasoning that I could understand why they felt that way. To me, a live action is not supposed to be exactly like what it is in the source material, especially when it is crossing cultural borders. While watching it, I was completely in the moment and for the most part forgot all about the manga (I haven’t watched the anime yet. Don’t hate me.). If you haven’t watched or read the original Death Note or if you completely separate yourself from the original, you would consider it a decent movie. Not the best, but definitely not the worst. Ryuk and L were definitely the best part of the film no matter what way you see it. Those two made the film.

Class Black is Made of Killers

I’m being quite literal with that title. In the anime Akuma no Riddle or Riddle Story of Devil, the Black Class of the prestigious school is made of assassins. What is their mission? To kill this one girl in their class. That’s right. It’s up to twelve different assassins to kill this one girl in their class. But there is a catch. There always is one. And is pretty good, all things considered. It’s kinda episodic with an overarching plot. There are times when I want to bash my head into the table watching one of the protagonists. She’s kinda cringe-worthy at times, but we put up with in for the sake of the show. She’s kinda like Usagi from Sailor Moon in many ways, except for the fact that she has experienced way more things before the start of the show, but doesn’t act like it. Another thing to mention if you are planning on watching this racy anime (because it can be racy at times) is that you have to watch every single ending. All of the endings are different and are there to represent the different characters. It’s amazing how well the songs and visuals capture the essence of everyone. It does a good job of humanizing a lot of the characters as well considering the fact that you may not see yourself emphasizing with a killer. But this anime makes it possible.

WARNING: Only Watch in English

Seriously, guys, you have been partially warned in advance. This anime so far is on my list of four animes where the English dub is acceptable to watch for purposes other than making fun of it. But in this case, the original anime is so bad, the original producers told the people who dubbed it to do whatever they wanted. If you haven’t guessed it already, I’m talking about Ghost Stories.

And remember how I said you had been partially warned, well I haven’t told you about what it actually said. Let’s just say, it’s really, really crude. As in, if you get offended at all, this really isn’t for you. Now, I think you have been fully warned.

Strangely enough, once you get past what I was talking about in the previous paragraph, it’s … okay. Just at first the jokes are hilarious, mainly because you aren’t expecting them. But when you hear the jokes, over and over again, because you’re gonna binge watch anime (let’s just face it), it starts to drag on. You get tired of hearing the same jokes being brought up five times an episode, so my suggestion, if you going to watch this, is to not binge watch even though everything in you is telling you to. Just don’t do it. You might enjoy it better. Also, if you get offended in any way, I repeat, DO NOT WATCH THIS. This is your final warning; do not blame me if you continue on. But if you are gonna watch, be prepared for a few jokes that are going to make you pause the episode, so that you hear what’s going on over your loud laughter to only be repeated a couple of times.

Can This Be Considered a Swimming Anime?

I have recently finished Keijo!!!!!!!! and yes the title has that many exclamation points. Seriously. What is Keijo (I refuse to make the many exclamation points again (it’s either one or three!) you may ask. It’s fanservice. … That’s about it. If you have ever played or seen someone play Dead or Alive, it pretty much the game where the girls are hitting each other with their butts, except with more action because of reasons and kinda pervy, also for reasons. I honestly have no clue what demographic this is for or who came up with this, but it’s … good…cheezy…has feelings. What?!? I don’t know, but it is a very binge-watchable show, mostly because at the end of every episode, you’re scratching your head, asking yourself “What the heck just happened?”

Would I recommend it? Should I recommend it?

Maybeee…….

I honestly do not know, but if you are a weirdo, I mean unique, like me, you might enjoy this craziness.

Scrambled Eggs are Sometimes Necessary

Although the title of this post will make sense after you watch Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterunda (boy, I hope I spelled that correctly) or The Anthem of the Heart is an absolutely heart-wrenching watch. It was absolutely beautiful to watch. I watched this movie with some of my friends and we were talking about it for about half an hour about how amazing it was. About our favorite characters, the characters we hated with all of the passion we could muster. Yes, the movie takes a little to get going, but once it goes… Sometime soon, I do want to watch it again, without people’s heads in the way. But always remember scrambled eggs.

I really want to tell you guys more, but I fell like if I say anything, it would be a spoiler. Technically the title is a spoiler, but it doesn’t make any sense unless you get to the point where it actually comes up. Also, don’t read the synopsis on MAL; just trust me on this.

Did I Just Take Acid?

Over the weekend I binged watched )if you can really call how short that was binge watching) Space Patrol Luluco. It was an anime the anime club at my school had watched two episodes of (they’re about 7 to 8 minutes of each), and I really enjoyed it. Why? I have absolutely no clue why. It was an acid trip from beginning to end. And there was a 31-second sequel. (So moving. I was so touched. … JK).

Anyways, it was a cute little show, that somehow tied everything from the very first episode to the 5th season. Seriously. There were 5 seasons, also known as 13 episodes. You know, same difference. It was actually one of the first animes I have seen in more than a month (I don’t know what I was thinking) so it was a short little something to dip my toes into. I think anyone who enjoys thinking to themselves “what the heck was I thinking” will really enjoy this…brilliant…display of color.
