I completed my second play through the amazing game known as Undertale. This time around, I was playing the genocide run, and let’s just say, it hurt so freaking much. I feel in love with these characters, and having to kill them all was truely heartbreaking. After getting towards the end, I realized that I didn’t do the true genocide. I was contemplating redoing the genocide run to do the true one, but I can’t do it. Litterally after the first fight, I had to put the game down for a day or two. In other words, I will not be going back and doing the run. Instead, I will be moving on to doing another pacifist route. This time, I’ll be doing the true pacifist route, so I’ll be wondering what new changes there are now that I’ve killed everyone that I loved and cared about. I’m sure that some of them will remember. If I ever get the urge to see the genocide run, I’ll just watch one of the many videos on YouTube. Degrees of separation from the actual violence and everything.

All My Monster Friends
I have finally gotten around to playing Undertale. In true fashion, I started by playing the pacifist route. I didn’t do the true pacifist route because I had played the majority of the true pacifist route and a previous play through, and I kinda just wanted to get through to see one the of the endings. Even though I didn’t go through all of the flavor text, it was still beautiful and got to my heart. I was trembling at the very last boss. If you have already played or watched someone play this game, you know why the last real battle is heartbreaking. What is making it worse is that I know that I’m going to be doing the genocide run next. I honestly don’t want to do it, but I must to get the full experience. Wish me luck. I might be racing my way through so I can just be done with it so I can get to the third playthrough you have to do. I honestly do not want to do it.
Everything You Need to Know in 20 Minutes
As you all probably know, I identify as a geek, ten-fold what a nerd is. Outside of fangirling about my favorite fandoms, I love to learn new things. That’s were Netflix’s documentary series Explained comes it to play. This documenary series covers a variety of topics such as designer genes, music, astrology and the world water shortage in short 20 minute episodes. What I love most about this series is that they cover both sides of many of the issues that they cover. The experts will say one thing, but at the same time they acknowledge where others are coming from at the same time. It’s actually pretty refreshing when individuals are able to see both sides of the issue they are discussing. The show is rated mature, but that is only because two of the episodes are on some pretty racey topics such as the female organism and monogamy. They’re completely education and take everything serious, but if you’re not mature enough to watch the episodes, I would suggest not watching them in public. I would suggest that anyone with a Netflix account watch this series, mainly because I want a second season. I would love to see what new topics they would get to cover if they had the opportunity.
Religous History Reimagined Pt 2
In the amazing work that comes from the Dan Brown, I have finished rereading the second book in the Robert Langdon series, The Da Vinci Code. As much as I loved this book, it was somewhat awkward to read again. For whatever reason, this book was still so deeply ingrained in my head, all of the twists in turns that were involved didn’t really get to me. Somethings did because I totally forgot that it was a thing. I was also trying to find proof that would somehow prove what I thought was true really wasn’t. Either way, I still loved this book. I still picture Robert Langdon as Tom Hanks and I don’t think anything will change that. Once again, I’m not too well versed in Catholicism or any of the secret society’s that were mentioned. What I loved the most was that it was still very much rooted in the first book. The main source of this book happening was because of the events of the first one. I do kinda wish the Langdon could have a more platonic partner instead of people that could be potential love interests. He has a thing for women who just had a family member die it seems.
It’s Now Bird Season
In the epic sequel to Alto’s Adventure, there is Alto’s Odyssey. I’ll be honest, I was a bit skeptical of this game. On the surface, it seems like a reskin of the first game. After playing for a bit more, I noticed that they added some new mechanics. They’ve added new ways to gain points by doing tricks. You can ski along walls and jump up and down on balloons. Also, you’re not just skiing in one location. There are three locations that you are able to ski through. It adds more variety which is very much appreciated. Because of that, there is the urge to continue going to get to the next location. Another thing they changed was that instead of having llamas running along with you, there are colorful birds flying with you. Also, you not being chased by a creepy person in this one. It’s a lemur that you woke up from your skiing. If you enjoyed the first game, you are sure to love this one. You have to get a couple of levels into the game before the new mechanics kick in, so hang in there for a bit.
Saving the Sacred Forest
In a stream-line of games that I probably finished faster than the game developers think it should have been, I played Ori and the Blind Forest. Throughout the game, I had to prevent myself from crying. The beginning was emotional. The few lines of dialogue were emotional. The cut scenes were emotional. The ending was emotional. I honestly do not want to spoil any part of the game because it is an emotional rollercoaster. I feel like the most I can tell you is that you are a magical being tasked with saving the forest from the darkness. The story is moving, the art is some of the most beautiful that I have seen in a game. The only thing I didn’t like was the really picky platforming. It did get pretty frustrating when you had to have your jumps precise in pixels because of how tiny the landing place was, but again, that’s just me being really picky. I would suggest that anyone plays this game and keep a tissue box handy.
Playground D&D
Let me preface this review with I would never have played this game had my friends not told me to. If anything, she forced me to play it, and then I blew through it in only three gaming sessions. That game is South Park: The Stick of Truth. I have never seen the show, I just know that they make fun of everything, and make fun of everything it does. My friend had to explain to me some of the back stories for the characters, but it was pretty straightforward. First off, I love these types of RPG games, so that was just one check mark in the awesome category. I just don’t know what about the game was so addicting. I wasn’t apparently supposed to complete the game as fast as I did but I was totally into it. I also tried to get all of the flavor text as possible. I was just having so much fun. I might need to watch the show after all.
HGTV: The Game
I game that I literally spent a week binge playing was House Flipper. I saw it all over YouTube and I wanted to have more of a chance to review it myself. I absolutely loved it. I did every single mission and I’m in the process of flipping the houses from the Buy menu. I think I love this game so much because I spend lots of my free time watching HGTV. I was fun for a chance to do the actual designing. I honestly wished that there were more options for furniture or lighting. I now that the team would need to spend time programming it, but I think that’s really the only thing I would change. I enjoy the puzzle of figuring out what each buyer wants and having fun trying to design based on their different tastes. I feel that if in games you spend a lot of time designing your living quarters, this might be the game for you. I know that I spend hours at a time building my houses in Minecraft, so this is the more realistic version with painting.
Not How You Start a Romance
In my desperate attempt to feel something, I decided to read a sappy romance that I had read before. I choose The Lucky One by Nickolas Sparks (because his writing is the definition of sappy romance). For those of you who have not read the book or seen the movie, The Lucky One is a story about a marine who finds a picture of a woman while out in Afganistan and ends up believing that it kept him alive. After coming back from tour, he goes on a hike across the country looking for this woman. Let me start by saying that this would only be possible in a romance novel. In real life, this would get you arrested, but when you suspend your disbelief and is a really interesting way to develop the relationship. You see the majority of the relationship building from the marine’s point of view which, giving him some props, his thoughts on everything was not creepy. He just felt the need to help her out after she “saved” his life. He was not expecting anything to come out of it. For this one reason, it’s kind of cute, especially in comparison with another male character in the book. After reading the story from the other guy’s point of view, I felt the need to take a shower. This was definitely a book that you cannot over think too much. You just have to take in at face value. If you think about it realistically, the entire story is a plot hole, but a fun read either way.
One Shot Assassin
I never expected an endless runner styled shooting game, but there is Mr. Gun. The game is minimalistic in plot and design, but I think that’s the beauty of it. You play as an assassin that is trying to take down a bunch of bosses on your bucket list, but first, you have to get through their minions. You are going upstairs, shooting your way up to the boss. The stairs are randomly generated along with the minions, so there is no telling how tall or short the starts are going to be, and you only have one shot or your dead. What I like about this game that is not present in most endless runners is that there is a leveling system. Instead of facing a bunch of minions and facing the exact same bosses every single time, you begin at the first level you haven’t defeated a boss on. There is still the ability to try and get a higher score every single time that you play, but it doesn’t come with the feeling that after you die, you have to start over at the very beginning. Also, there is the ability to change guns, once you own them. Each one has slightly different abilities. There are also different outfits. After I got the Hitman 47 skin, I didn’t bother looking at the others, so that’s something you for you to discover.
