Recently, I felt the need to read a sappy romance, as one often does. So I picked up Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks, for what feels like the third book. Yes, I know. Cliche, but I can’t help that he’s a good author. He has realistic characters and semi-realistic situations. (I’m not going to mention the Notebook because I can yet handle that amount of cheese.) If you have yet to know what it’s about, it’s about our protagonist escaping from an abusive relationship. It’s an interesting take seeing as in most stories about domestic violence, the person being abused is saved instead of saving his or herself. It was quite an enjoyable read since the romance wasn’t just at the forefront. Even though there are feelings present, that’s not all that’s there in case 100% cheesy romance isn’t your thing. Also, the plot twist is completely worth it in my opinion.

The Animal Rescue Site
If you are like me, you want to help with different causes. You really do. Unfortunately for many causes, you have to donate a lot of time and money, something that often times I cannot afford. Because of this, I am often times looking for different causes that don’t cost a lot of time or money for me to be able to participate in. One such causes that I found is the Animal Rescue Site. It is their mission to help animals that are in animals shelters with needs such as food and vaccinations. Understanding that not everyone can contribute large sums of money to them, on their site, they have a large purple button, that by clicking it, you can donate some food to some of the shelters that they sponsor. I make sure to have this site up all the time so that I can make sure to click that button every day. They also have a list of more free things that you can do to help them, and also have a store so that you can purchase some swag that can help them further if you are able to contribute more to them. By doing this, it only takes a few seconds to help an animal an animal in need. Just browse their site, so that you can see the variety of things that they do and see how you can help out more.

Not Your Typical Vampire Pt 1
I recently reread of book Moon Dance by J. R. Rain. I loved this series when I was a bit younger, not much younger, but it has been a couple of years. I stopped reading it because I got to the end that the author had written for it, which was about five books, so I was waiting for more to come out. While I was waiting, I, of course, forgot all about it.I was recently looking through my Kindle books, remembered this series, and wanted to see where it had gone to. Turns out that this series, titled Vampire for Hire has fourteen main books and a couple of spin-offs. Being the person I am (who loves vampire novels) decided that I was going to read the entire thing, no matter how bad it gets. And as a first entry, it’s a pretty good one. The story follows Samantha Moon, a recently turned vampire, who is trying to keep her family together by being a Private Investigator so that she can keep her own hours. From what I have read so far, it, of course, keeps that basic vampire tropes, (being unable to go out into sunlight, sleeping through the day, etc.), but adds the element that she is around her human family, taking care of her kids like the average mom, and at the same time trying to keep her secret (horribly at times, I will admit). So far, I think it’s really good, and I have a feeling that it’s going to add to it. Now, instead of reviewing every single book, I’m going to add updates as I read the rest of the books, to show how I’m feeling about it and then give a “full length” review again as I finish the series. At this point, I would suggest checking it out. We’ll just have to wait and see where everything goes.
Class Black is Made of Killers
I’m being quite literal with that title. In the anime Akuma no Riddle or Riddle Story of Devil, the Black Class of the prestigious school is made of assassins. What is their mission? To kill this one girl in their class. That’s right. It’s up to twelve different assassins to kill this one girl in their class. But there is a catch. There always is one. And is pretty good, all things considered. It’s kinda episodic with an overarching plot. There are times when I want to bash my head into the table watching one of the protagonists. She’s kinda cringe-worthy at times, but we put up with in for the sake of the show. She’s kinda like Usagi from Sailor Moon in many ways, except for the fact that she has experienced way more things before the start of the show, but doesn’t act like it. Another thing to mention if you are planning on watching this racy anime (because it can be racy at times) is that you have to watch every single ending. All of the endings are different and are there to represent the different characters. It’s amazing how well the songs and visuals capture the essence of everyone. It does a good job of humanizing a lot of the characters as well considering the fact that you may not see yourself emphasizing with a killer. But this anime makes it possible.
IN THE NEWS: Net Neutrality
If you have not heard about net neutrality, you obviously have not been around the internet. Me, as a child of the internet, am always on it. Whether I am watching YouTube videos, streaming Netflix videos, or searching for random things via Google, usually pictures from my favorite manga and anime. For those that are not aware of this, particularly in the United States, if a company refused to pay extra money, their service would be diminished in terms of speed. What this could mean to me? It could take forever for my YouTube videos to load or for me to be able to stream shows among other things. Also, as someone who produces content for the internet, people might not be able to find my content, whether or not they would want to read it or not. You just it takes forever to load because I cannot afford to make sure that people can consume content at an appropriate speed. But don’t just take my word for it. Seriously, when I talk about the news, don’t just take my word for it. Do your own research. I could be biased, and I am well aware of that. I would personally suggest going to https://www.battleforthenet.com/. This website includes a couple of videos on the subject that discusses the subject of net neutrality. Also, go to other sites. If Congress getting rid of this affects you, please go to the FCC and other sites in order shout out why you don’t want neutrality. The internet needs you.
Welcome Back to Marvel
Recently, I watched the newest movie released by Marvel: Spiderman: Homecoming. I was excited for this character to come back to Marvel like I want many other characters to come back. After watching it, I was mixed about it. So mixed, that I had to sleep on it. Yes, sleep on it, and I woke up to the same conclusion: it was okay. I like the villain, I like the heroes (I consider chair-guy an important part of any team), and I liked the cameos. Everyone else, eh… The love interest was boring and uninteresting. Everyone else had pretty much on character trait: nerd, bully, random classmates that are there so that there are people around. There were also sections of movie where nothing happened and made me not care at all. I will admit that the cast of characters with speaking roles was diverse, and was happy to see. Also happy we didn’t have to go through the “with great power comes great responsibility” speech again. (I only wish Batman would do the same. We know how your parents died. Stop showing it.) Overall, I was happy with how the movie turned out, even if Marvel decided to be a complete troll. There were moments that made me laugh, and there were moments where I truly empathized with the different characters, both hero and villain. Do I wish that some things weren’t in there? Yes. I think most people do. Would I recommend this to younger audiences? Probably not. I feel like it is for those who know what high school is like. Also, if you don’t want to explain some of the things the other kids do, I wouldn’t let younger audiences watch either because high school is rough. But once again, welcome back to Marvel, Spiderman. Next up, the Fantastic Four. (Please tell me, you’re working on this Marvel.)
When the Movie is as Good as the Book
Recently I have finished reading The Princess Bride, the book that I have been meaning to read for a long time, but never did. Now that I have, I’m upset that I never did before. Can I say it was anything other than amazing? At this point, I’m going to cross between the book and the movie, because how can I not. I have seen the movie so many times, and I always loved it. I think that the reason that I didn’t read the book was that I didn’t want to hate the movie after reading the book. I couldn’t have been more wrong. The book was amazing, and it just made me love the movie even more, especially when I noticed lines of dialogue that I remember word for word from the movie (you know, that one thing that every fangirl and fanboy rejoices over). The one part of the book that I wasn’t a fan of was when the author would butt into the story. Since the book version that is well known is the abridged “good parts” version, it was helpful when the author explains why he took things out of the book (because there was apparently entire chapters were nothing happened). Other times… he spoils the plot. Had I not watched the movie, there are things that I wouldn’t expect from the genre. It was annoying, but I knew I wasn’t as annoyed as I would have been had I never learned the plot before. Since that is my only grievance, you can honestly skip his notes and pretty much miss nothing. Also, about halfway through the book, he says that he wrote an extra scene. There is no extra scene because of legal issues. If you look for it, all you will find is an apology letter. Trust me, I tried to look for it. But I would definitely recommend that you read this book.

Taking Over Old Kingdoms
So, I’ve been kinda obsessed with mobile games recently. This is a totally new development. Don’t you worry. (I’m totally lying. I love mobile games.) The most recently one that I’ve been playing at least a couple of times a day is called Polytopia. It is a strategy, turn-based game where your characters are people from older kingdoms, of course given random names because of … copyright(?). Each civilization has different starting points in the tech tree that you have. You start with four different civilization, but you can unlock more the better you get. There is even a pass and play mode so that you can decide who of your friend group is the best at strategizing. (It’s totally going to be you, right?) The graphics are the cute blocky design that I absolutely love and as a love of variations for a free game. And it’s available for iOS and Android.
I’m going to go and play more now.
You Shouldn’t Put Power in My Hands
Recently, I have discovered the mobile game “Balance.” Balance is a blocky puzzle and logic game. The goal is to give cities power. Sounds simple right. Well, it starts that way, then it makes you want to pull your hair out when if has puzzles off the course that make no sense to you. Trust me. I spent all night trying to figure out one of the puzzles, but once you start doing it, it makes sense. Sorta. Small wires can’t handle currents as well as bigger ones, but then the length of the wire also needs to be taken into consideration. It’s very trial and error. I’m still trying to completely finish this game (with all 3 stars), but I would definitely check this out if you can. It is available for Android and iOS.
Also, please recommend more puzzle games that are like Candy Crush. I’m always looking for more that I can waste playing. (Pretty Please)
WARNING: Only Watch in English
Seriously, guys, you have been partially warned in advance. This anime so far is on my list of four animes where the English dub is acceptable to watch for purposes other than making fun of it. But in this case, the original anime is so bad, the original producers told the people who dubbed it to do whatever they wanted. If you haven’t guessed it already, I’m talking about Ghost Stories.
And remember how I said you had been partially warned, well I haven’t told you about what it actually said. Let’s just say, it’s really, really crude. As in, if you get offended at all, this really isn’t for you. Now, I think you have been fully warned.
Strangely enough, once you get past what I was talking about in the previous paragraph, it’s … okay. Just at first the jokes are hilarious, mainly because you aren’t expecting them. But when you hear the jokes, over and over again, because you’re gonna binge watch anime (let’s just face it), it starts to drag on. You get tired of hearing the same jokes being brought up five times an episode, so my suggestion, if you going to watch this, is to not binge watch even though everything in you is telling you to. Just don’t do it. You might enjoy it better. Also, if you get offended in any way, I repeat, DO NOT WATCH THIS. This is your final warning; do not blame me if you continue on. But if you are gonna watch, be prepared for a few jokes that are going to make you pause the episode, so that you hear what’s going on over your loud laughter to only be repeated a couple of times.
